This physiotherapy course has taken place at the Department of rehabilitation studies at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009. The aim of this course is to support our students to become allied health care professions in accordance with law no. 96/2004 which defines and guarantees the standards for this healthcare profession in Czech Republic.
Our graduates are equipped to diagnose a dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. They are able to use specific kinesiology analyses and approaches, moreover they are able to measure range of motion of joints and muscle strength, and analyse pathological movement patterns, stereotypes and locomotion of the patients. All these tools and techniques help them to identify correct diagnose and simultaneously to create individual client centred oriented treatment plan, including ergonomic advisory.
Physiotherapists carry out specific therapy, where they use non-invasive therapeutic interventions. The interventions mainly focus on movement and exercise programmes (active and passive movements), manual therapies, specific techniques and concepts (thermotherapy, magnetic therapy, electrotherapy) and manual reflexive therapy. Finally, through the process of rehabilitation they re-evaluate and re-assess the client with the aim to provide the best evidence based therapy. The medical documentation is kept and updated through the entire process.

This bachelor programme has taken place at the Department of rehabilitation studies at the Faculty of health care studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009. This course is based on the latest rehabilitation theories and concepts.
Occupational therapy is part of allied health care professions with the aim to maximise the quality of life. This profession applies the biophysical social model to meet the individual needs. This profession is constantly evolving and finds its use not only in healthcare settings, but even in social, pedagogic and technical areas. Over the recent years this profession has rapidly grown and most importantly, it is an evidence-based practice deeply rooted in science.
Our graduates are able independently apply therapeutic and preventative interventions to improve and maintain quality of life of the individuals. Moreover, they are able to create short and long treatment plan as a part of the rehabilitation process. They use meaningful and creative activities to improve the physical aspects such as muscle strength, range of movement and coordination of the impaired parts. Practicing meaningful activities of daily living and promoting independence of patients are unique interventions among all health care professions. Furthermore, this profession focus on communication skills of the patients and their cognitive impairment as a part of the multidisciplinary team. Occupational therapists are able to identify and evaluate the use of small aids and further adaptations to the patient's home or work environment to enable them to live their life to fullest. Finally, they always work closely with the client and his/her family to ensure the consistency in the rehabilitation process.

Our students are taught to have an individual approach, being creative, having skillful hands and being able to apply the latest, evidence based technologies. Moreover, they learn through their studies, how to work with all sorts of materials and most importantly, how to communicate with their clients and colleagues.
This bachelor programme has taken place at the Department of rehabilitation studies at the Faculty of health care studies, University of West Bohemia since 2015/2016. The main focus is to prepare qualified allied health care profession orthotics-prosthetics in accordance with act no. 96/2004, which defines and guarantees the standards for this healthcare profession in Czech Republic.
Our graduates are able to provide care and treat clients independently without direct medical supervision in accordance with the recommendation from the multidisciplinary team. They are able to assess and identify the adequate orthosis and/or prosthetic devices, including education to patients, their families and other members of the multidisciplinary team on appropriate use. Their aim is to maximise the functional potential and independence of the client. They are able to fabricate modern orthotic and prosthetic devices following amputation of upper and lower limbs and so they assist to regain clients life. Moreover they fabricate devices and tools to help reduce pain and return back to their normal life, work, education etc.

This nursing course has taken place at the Department of nursing and midwifery at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009. This course is for full-time and part-time students. Graduates will be able to find employment across all healthcare and social settings as well as the private health care sector.
The profession of nurse is a regulated health care profession, the competences set for this profession are in accordance with the law no. 96/2004, with the options for further changes and conditions when working as allied healthcare professionals and providing the healthcare care in accordance with other law no. 391/2017.
Our graduates are able to offer individualised nursing care, treating patients with acute or chronic health issues. Furthermore, they are able to deal with human health and illness holistically, thus nursing for patients with somatic or psychological illness. The provided care is based on their gained comprehensive theoretical and practical skills and knowledge. They care and contribute to maintenance and restoration of health of all individuals, groups and communities in various stages of health and illness.
There is possibility for our graduates to carry on with postgraduate programme.

This three-year course has taken place at the Department of rehabilitation studies at the Faculty of nursing and midwifery, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009. This programme is only full time. Immediate career prospects are great for our newly qualified midwives as they can work in the maternity unit of a large general hospital, in smaller stand-alone maternity units, in private maternity hospitals, in group practices, at birth centres, with general practitioners and in the community.
The profession of midwifery is regulated health care profession, the competences set for this profession are in accordance with the law no. 96/2004, with the options for further changes and conditions when working as allied healthcare professionals and providing the healthcare care in accordance with other law no. 391/2017.
Midwives are able to provide a highly specialised care and support for pregnant women, women and their partners during the labour and then follow care after the childbirth. Moreover, our graduates are able to assist with a complicated labour and other gynecologic surgeries. Midwives assess the wellbeing and needs of the mother and her family and upon the discussion with a multidisciplinary team, they can provide highly specialised care and information on a wide range of issues.

This radiologist assistant course has taken place at the Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health at the Faculty of health care studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009.
This study programme is well designed, thus our graduates are able to complete independently radiological procedures, medical imaging and application of ionising radiation within the multidisciplinary team in healthcare settings, veterinary and research laboratories.

Radiologist assistant is a professional that obtains a uni degree and thus has adequate competences to carry on all radiological procedures and medical imaging in all healthcare settings and nuclear medicine. They are also able to work with modern medical devices such as computer tomography, ultrasonography, positron emission tomography.
The important role of a radiological assistant is to ensure the accurate patient positioning techniques, utilise radiographic exposure factors to optimize image quality and minimize patient dose and practice radiation protection principles for patient and occupational safety.

This paramedic science course has taken place at the Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009
This study programme prepares our students to become theoretically and practically well skilled and educated, thus they are able to provide specific medical treatment and care without the need of direct supervision of the medical team in pre-hospital care, primary, acute and critical care settings.
Our graduates are prepared and able to work as regulated health care professionals in accordance with the law no. 96/2004, with the options for further changes and conditions when working as allied healthcare professionals and providing the healthcare care in accordance with other law no. 391/2017.
Paramedic is a qualified professional who is able to independently provide acute intensive care and pre-hospital care in life-threatening situations. Paramedics can mantatin, restore and support their patients regardless of psychological, social, economic or cultural differences and requirements. They maintain the ethical considerations and adequate communication skills.
Paramedic is able to work within the multidisciplinary team and with other professionals that are a part of an integrated paramedic system.

This three year course will prepare our students to become medical lab technicians. This study programme has taken place at the Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health, at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, the University of West Bohemia since 2013/2014.
The aim of this programme is to prepare our students to become well educated professionals who are able to work independently at the healthcare labs of all settings. This programme is in accordance with all other european study programmes and follows fundamental principles of the education for healthcare professions. The programme is mainly based on biology, however further focus is on the medical field and subjects such as molecular biology, genetics, histology, immunology, clinical biochemie and hematology.
This programme aims to prepare our graduates to become well recognised healthcare professionals who can work not only in the Czech republic, but even in other european countries.
Our graduates are able to collect samples and run tests with the aim to identify the further adequate lab assessments. They are able to compile the results. They are also able to safely handle the samples with the final safe disposal. Moreover, they can operate, clean and adjust the lab equipment on a day to day basis. In accordance with the protection of public health, our graduates are able to collect samples, control results, store the samples and ensure that there is enough material for the assessment and run a specialised biological test.
