Characteristics of the department
The Department was established by merging the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy and the Department of Theoretical Fields from the academic year 2017/18. It provides teaching of theoretical subjects (anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, pharmacology, etc.) for the entire Faculty of health care studies, Faculty of education (functional anatomy, disease clinic) and Faculty of mechanical engineering (basics of anatomy, kinesiology) of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
The department prepares students to become professionals with main focus on medical rehabilitation. They will help their patients / clients to return to their previous functional level.
Every year, the department organises professional conferences that are designed and accredited for allied health care professionals.
The department cooperates closely with other faculties of the University of West Bohemia and also with TH Deggendorf on student interdisciplinary projects.
Every year, our students take a part in international exchange students placements.
Graduates have a great on the labor market in hospital and outpatient facilities, including the private sector.
The research activities of the department are clinical and instrumental objectification of movement functions and dysfunctions, or quantitative interpretation of the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic procedures.

CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR DEPARTMENT
The department has been a part of the Faculty of health care studies of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen since the academic year 2008/2009. The main goal of the Department of nursing and midwifery is to prepare well educated non-medical healthcare professionals who will be able to work as regulated nurses and midwives. The aim of the academic staff of the department is to actively participate in various activities and projects related to the development of professions. The project and research activities of the department currently focus on the education of patients with cardiovascular disease, quality and safety of nursing care, innovation of study programs within the phenomenon of Industry 4.0, care of midwives in the community, testing of smart modular clothing and special textile products with integrated electronic microsystems to improve the health care of the aging population and the disabled.
Every year, the department organises student conferences, a nationwide conference The Journey of Cognition and Education in Nursing. The annual educationally popular festival for the professional and general public The Journey of Woman - Mother. Moreover, there are also events related to the Memory Training Week. The academic staff of the department cooperates very closely with experts from practice and participates in the organisation of a number of important conferences, congresses, symposia and workshops.

CHARACTERISTIC OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Paramedical science, medical diagnostics studies and public health provides and organises teaching in the study programmes such as Paramedical science (full-time form), Radiological Assistance (full-time form) and Laboratory Diagnostics in health care (full-time form).
The main goal of this department is to provide higher education to non-medical health professionals in bachelor's programmes, actively participate in the implementation of projects that promote individual programmes and furthermore it provides research opportunities and participation in professional discussion.
